| The U3 edition of EditPad has been discontinued. The first reason is that the normal edition of EditPad can now be installed portably onto any device, without the need of the proprietary and complicated U3 technology. The regular edition simply runs off whatever device you install it on. You can even create a portable installation onto a hard disk. The only thing the regular version of EditPad cannot do is add itself to the U3 launchpad. The other reason is that SanDisk, the owner of U3, has refused to pay Just Great Software for the EditPad Pro licenses that were sold through U3's own software store, even after SanDisk was provide with full documentation of all the licenses that were generated for U3 customers. As a small company, Just Great Software cannot afford to do business with companies that cannot keep basic accounts of what they've sold and pay on time. If you have previously purchased EditPad Pro, either directly from Just Great Software or via the U3 store, you can still download the last release of the U3 edition of EditPad. This is version 6.4.3, released on 9 August 2008. If this version works well for you, you are welcome to continue using it. If not, you can download and install the regular edition of EditPad as explained above, even if you purchased your license from U3 and Just Great Software never saw any of your money. | "For years I have been a registered user of UltraEdit32. Recently, I discovered and quickly registered EditPad Pro. Very impressive. Needless to say I won't be going back to that "other" editor. "Oh, and let me point out a huge plus - the ability to install my EditPad Pro on my PortableApps USB key. Wow! That is truly a major bonus for which I am most grateful. "Excellent work! Extremely happy to have EditPad Pro on my laptop AND my portable USB." — David Hankinson, 30 April 2007, Canada |
